HEBRON, Ohio (WCMH) -- The central Ohio drag strip that brought some of the sport's biggest names to the area for decades is up for sale as its owner leaves the racing business.
National Trail Raceway, a roughly 230-acre property near Hebron in Licking County, is among 12 motorsports facilities being sold nationwide by Darana Motorsports Holdings.

Real estate auction company Tranzon is handling the sales, with sealed bids due Nov. 17. The property could be sold before the deadline. See the latest NBC4 headlines in the video player above.
The sale also includes two other Ohio tracks: Dragway 42 in West Salem, which opened in 1957, and Kil-Kare Raceway in Xenia, which has hosted racing since 1951. Darana aims to complete its departure from the business by year's end.
"Our business has taken a different direction from what we originally anticipated, and I have made the decision to exit the racing business through the sale of these properties," Darana CEO Darryl Cuttell said in a statement.

The offering leaves open what comes next for a track that has hosted racing in central Ohio since 1964. Tranzon is marketing the properties to buyers interested in continuing motorsports and entertainment operations, as well as investors and developers considering other uses.
According to its listing, National Trail remains an operating racing facility. Its calendar included the Halloween Hootout last weekend.
The track began hosting the National Hot Rod Association's Spring Nationals in 1972 and continued through 2006. Its history includes appearances by Shirley Muldowney, Don Prudhomme, Bob Glidden and Tony Schumacher. The association's national touring event moved to Norwalk beginning in 2007.
The facility now operates as Darana Raceway-Hebron under International Hot Rod Association rules. It hosted the IHRA Spring Nationals in May.
The sale includes a quarter-mile drag strip, a three-story tower with race-control areas and private suites, pit and staging areas, concessions and camping space. Roughly 26 acres are paved parking, and the property has access from National Road and Refugee Road, according to Tranzon.
Beyond drag racing, the facility has accommodated autocross, driver training, filming and concerts, giving a buyer options for using the grounds alongside the track.
Each property will be offered individually. After the sealed-bid deadline, Tranzon said it may invite selected qualified bidders to participate in another round of online bidding.
